I am Carolyn L. Guidry, the County Clerk. I was first elected to an unexpired term on November 9, 2004 after a 30-year career at Southwestern Bell.
The primary focus of the County Clerk’s office is to provide the best customer service, to manage taxpayers’ money wisely, and to preserve our citizen’s records. Preservation of records predating the existence of computers has been a priority including archival restoration of Probate records dating from 1836 to the 1930’s, Map records filed prior to 1994 and the digitization and indexing of land records from sovereignty (1836) to 1982. These projects and others are currently underway, and most have been substantially completed.
During my tenure as County Clerk, with the assistance of a great staff, the administration of elections in Jefferson County has improved by implementing Vote Centers and leading the call for a new voting system. Voting has been made easier in Jefferson County by allowing voters to vote at any Election Day polling location.
