| VEHICLE REGISTRATION |
| The Jefferson County Tax Assessor-Collector's
Office performs over 206,000 vehicle registrations and more than 62,000
vehicle title transfers in Jefferson County each year. Jefferson County
has approximately 189 automobile dealers. By working closely with the Texas
Department of Motor Vehicles and Texas State Comptroller, we hope to offer
our customers the most convenient and efficient service possible.

| Since the introduction of the Texas Department
of Motor Vehicles computerized Registration and Title System (RTS) in
1995, the transaction time for registrations and titles in our offices has
been reduced to under eight minutes. Also, titles are now delivered to customers
approximately two weeks from the transaction date instead of six to eight
weeks, as it was before RTS was implemented. |

In addition to our three (3) locations, the
Tax Office offers other means to conduct your automobile transactions.
The purchase of registration stickers and the transfer of titles can be
done through the mail. Also, there are six (6) automobile
license renewal locations in Jefferson
County that sell registration stickers for passenger cars, trailers, motorcycles,
and small trucks (pickups, vans, and sport utility vehicles). |

| To save time and convenience, online registration is available
for your motor vehicle registration renewal and change of address. This
service is available through the www.texasonline.com
website. Online users will pay an additional $2.00 nonrefundable fee plus
a $1.00 mail-in charge. Current insurance is required and the vehicle must
be currently registered in Texas. Customers can pay by credit card using
MasterCard or Visa. For more information on these services, please call

The Texas Department
of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) offers a wide variety of specialized
license plates. Customize your license plate, or choose from one of
many license plates designed to pay tribute to the U.S. military, or express
support for your special interest, favorite college, university, professional
sports team, or other organization. Order your specialized license plates
at any Jefferson County Tax Office. Click on the "Specialized License

variety of plates offered and the fees charged for each. |

| ONLINE DATABASE OF FLOOD DAMAGED VEHICLES
Flood damaged vehicles that have been issued Salvage Titles in
the state of Florida or flood damaged vehicles and boats damaged
by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma can be identified by searching
online databases which can be accessed through the TxDMV
website. Approximately 150,000 vehicles from Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi,
and Alabama are listed by entering the vehicle identification number.
